18:45 Complete Beginner salsa taster (15 minutes)
During this taster, people will be given the complete basics of Crossbody Salsa to be able to have a fun time partner-dancing during our friendly social.
20:30 Rueda de Casino taster (15 minutes)
Learn the basics of Rueda de Casino, an incredibly fun synchronised version of salsa with many playful moves, constant partner switching, and high energy!
Instead of dancing in separate couples, everyone forms a big circles (like a βwheelβ, aka βRuedaβ). One person shouts out commands or hand signals, and the entire circle performs the moves in perfect unison, frequently swapping partners at the exact same time. Don't overthink it - just follow the leader, switch partners, and laugh along when things get beautifully chaotic!
19:15 - 22:00 Salsa dance social
The rest of the time, we will be dancing along to all sorts of salsa, son, mambo, and more. Show us your best moves!
We are keen to see how these socials evolve over time and are open to other styles of Afro-Latin dance & music. If you want to contribute with informal teaching to support beginners and / or with actitivies at the dance social please speak to one of the community hosts who will make themselves known on the night.
