Dancing, team games, live music, kilts! Kick those January blues with Gaily Ceilidh!
Each January, Scots across the world join together for a Burns Supper to celebrate the life and work of one of their most famous bards, Robert Burns - Rabbie, if you're nasty.
This year, join Venn Smyth and Jamsheed Master for a modern and queer take on the celebration at Two Brewers in Clapham, South West London.
And what is a ceilidh, you might ask? Basically, getting tossed around the dancefloor in some set dances – don’t worry we’ll teach you the moves! We’ll introduce you to the Gay Gordons, a Dashing White Sergeant and even teach you how to Strip the Willow!
Whether it’s sharing a good laugh with friends or dancing with a beautiful stranger, a ceilidh is a fun-filled get-together that will warm up even the darkest months. Throw your caution, and your kilt, to the wind!
What our previous Gaily Ceilidh go-ers have said:
“So Good!”
“A fab show”
“Was distracted by you all in kilts”
“Really fun, glad we came!”
“Did not expect to be ceilidh dancing this January, but I loved it!”
Venn Smyth is a Scottish singer-songwriter, performer, writer and producer, who has put on shenanigans across the UK and Europe. His own brand of queer pop music has reached No.1 on the LGBTQ Music Chart more than once and has taken him to Brighton’s Voice of Broadway, London Pride’s Got Talent and Una Voce per San Marino. When not teaching ceilidh dancing, he’s to be found cruising the seven seas (and performing on cruise ships).
Jamsheed Master is an entertainer, BAFTA-winning composer and general all-round show-off. Their most recent work can be heard at Sadler’s Wells on the new contemporary ballet, Eliza. Jam’s musical Wide Awake goes into workshop in 2027 and they are also the composer for TV show Custodians (out 2028). Jam is also a model and often appears on the cover of magazines, with content for LGBTQ+ brands including Den Loungewear and Fetish Daddy.
