CLASS OUTLINE
Ed’s Master class will start with a look at the history of political movements and the use of banners as symbols to untie people. He will trace his journey into banner making and his eventual life’s work and passion and his mastery the art form that has lead him to work with artist like Jeremy Deller and to making pieces for the British council and queer icon Penny Arcade .
In the second half of the class Ed will work with the group to make drawing that will lead to the making of a unique ‘Queer’ banner . He will ask the class to identify what imagery , representation and slogans they would like to used on the banner . The group will then will work with Ed to draw and plan the design the banner , he will take this sketchs away and make the banner up.
The resulting banner will then be put on display in Hackney , either in the VFD window or the Hackney museum .
