SILVERTOWN - A new play by Jonny Wooster.
A reading of Jonny Wooster’s first play, staged in an historic 1950's industrial space re-purposed as a performance space. The play is set in a gay pub in Silvertown in 1967. The arrival of two straight couples during the celebrations by the gay regulars at the turning og the 1967 Sexual Offences act leads to a dangerous flirtation, violence and confrontation of hidden fears and desires. The arrival of Miss Daphne, a drag queen from on of the boats only adds to the drama.
The play discusses the Sexual Offences Act of 1967 and has references to abortion, sexual acts, violence and contains discriminatory language.
