As a special event for Black History Month, The Common Press at Glass House is proud to host Livia Kojo Alour for the launch of her debut poetry collection, ‘Rising Of The Black Sheep’. Join us on 16th October, 5pm-8pm for a conversation with Livia Kojo Alour and Amy Ridler including book Signing and Q&A.
Rising of the Black Sheep is a testament to resilience, from the perspective of a Queer Black woman. Livia gives voice to personal loss, queer identity, and institutional racism ,but also hope and joy, achievement, activism, and a future that is unapologetically Black.
In her debut poetry collection Livia Kojo Alour touchingly evokes her childhood memories then takes us on her journey of self-discovery, overcoming stereotypes, and finally moving into her power.
This poetry collection is an extension of her award-winning solo show Black Sheep.

A fierce poetic and deeply honest voice about what it means to be a Black woman living in the diaspora … An activist speaking directly on the modern colonial mindset of the UK … A stunning debut collection.
