About Toya Delazy
Zulu musician Toya Delazy is breaking musical and cultural boundaries with her dynamic performances across London and major festivals like Glastonbury. Her work, characterized by complex polyrhythms and high-energy beats, showcases a blend of multilingual and multicultural influences, aptly termed "Afrorave." Now based in London, Delazy excels both as a producer and collaborator, working with talents like Ahadadream, Sam Interface, and Tash LC to create a unique fusion of techno, jungle, and DnB sounds. Inspired by South African gqom, her music invites listeners to rethink the experiences of people of color while promoting self-awareness, free expression, and empowerment. Drawing parallels with Afrofuturism pioneers like Sun Ra, Afrorave Vol. 1 addresses universal suffering and social issues, weaving Afro-rave into broader, inclusive narratives.
